Hai everyone.....
For this class, I learned that students can be the agent of change in their university as everyone have their own responsibility in order to improve the quality of their campus and surrounding.
In order to relate to the surroundings of the IIUM, Sir Suhaimi also stressed the terms "sustainable campus" and "green campus" in the lesson. Sustainable campuses are those that use community education to work towards accomplishing the SDG goals and targets. The goals of sustainable development were also taken into consideration when planning their activities. Next, green campus refers to actions that preserve sustainability and cleanliness of the environment through environmental friendliness. Utilizing eco-friendly materials for everyday necessities and applying the 3R concept to waste management are two examples.
Furthermore, my lecturer pointed out that exposing these terms through a campaign is typically ineffective because each person's application of them is dependent on their own goals and motivations. This is because everyone has a unique interpretation of sustainable development based on their perspective.
Islam's core values exhort people to coexist peacefully with the natural world and to revere and respect it. The teachings of the Quran and the Hadith, which make repeated references to the environment and people's obligation to protect it, make this clear. Islam places a strong emphasis on life preservation and sustainable development, which is one of the main goals of Shariah.
