WEEK 8 ROLES OF INSTITUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

During our class on week 8, Sir Suhaimi asked the class about any activities during our midsem break that could be connected to one of the SDG goals. I returned to Penang, my hometown, over the holiday. I therefore made the decision to share about the rising number of Covid cases in my hometown. My community has decided to perform a gotong royong in order to keep our surroundings clean in light of the current circumstances. Additionally, extra care has been taken to preserve one another's hygiene.

The 16th and 17th goals of sustainable development were also stressed by my lecturer as being applicable to our day-to-day lives. It requires six primary steps to be applied, which are

1. Institutional framework

2. Policy framework

3. Monitoring evaluation

4. Financing mechanism

5. Training advocacy

6. Reporting

From an Islamic perspective, health is considered a fundamental human right, making Islam a valuable source of knowledge and guidance. Islam has placed health second in importance to faith since its inception. Taking care of our health is one of our duties as Muslims, as it is a commandment from Allah SWT. One of the gifts from Allah that we should protect is our health.
