On week 7, I learned about the three main aspects of challenges that will be faced in achieving the sustainable development goals, which include social, economic, and environmental. I was able to relate this concept to my group project.
First, social factors that clarified the "human development" strategy for meeting people's fundamental needs and promoting equity in society. Additionally, it elaborates on what each person's top priorities in life are. In my project, the targeted community frequently forgets to wash their hands after using the toilet, making it challenging to gather data and assess the efficacy of our solution. This is a result of their time constraints, which force them to prioritise daily tasks like going to class.
Next, economic challenges required my group to plan our budget in order to implement this solution, whereby we decided to collect money among us to buy the hand soap. Finally, environmental issues arise from the fact that our group uses hand soap that is packaged in plastic bottles, which can contaminate the environment after we finish using the soap. In order to take further action based on the situation, my group decided to regularly observe and learn about the status of the hand soap.
In my opinion, preservation of environment is very important in Islam. This is because according to its proponents, Islam teaches people to live in harmony and responsibility with all living things and non-living objects in the natural world in order to preserve the environment.
