WEEK 11 MEASUREMENT, INDICES & INDICATORS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

 Assalamualaikum everyone.

I studied alternative measures of economic and social well-being in week 11 of class. Alternative metrics exist as well. One such metric is the Human Development Index, which serves as an annual tool for assessing the socioeconomic standing of countries and is defined as a summary measure of average achievement in key dimensions of human development. In addition, the Living Planet Index, a gauge of biological diversity worldwide based on global vertebrate species population trends, is used.

Next, my lecturer also emphasized the sustainable development goals including their target and indicators to the class. It is to helps us have a better understanding regarding SDG Goal in order to relate it with our group project assessment.

The Islamic viewpoint places a strong emphasis on the social and economic welfare of Muslims. In Islam, economic sustainability is defined as a state of consistently meeting people's spiritual and non-material needs. Islamic instruments for socioeconomic development include waqaf and zakat. Islam, on the other hand, defined social sustainability as human activity that upholds human rights and the environment without interfering with the functioning of natural systems.
